Supported File Formats

Next Move Money accepts three main file formats for transaction uploads. Here's everything you need to know about each one.

CSV (Comma-Separated Values)

Most Common Format - Nearly all banks support CSV export.

What We Look For

Your CSV file should include these columns:

  • Date - When the transaction occurred
  • Description - Merchant name or transaction details
  • Amount - Transaction amount (positive or negative)

Optional but helpful columns:

  • Category
  • Account
  • Balance

Example CSV Format

Date,Description,Amount
2026-01-15,STARBUCKS COFFEE,-5.50
2026-01-14,PAYCHECK DEPOSIT,2500.00
2026-01-13,NETFLIX SUBSCRIPTION,-15.99

OFX (Open Financial Exchange)

Quicken Format - Used by Quicken and many financial institutions.

  • Better for investment accounts

QFX (Quickbooks Financial Exchange)

Quickbooks Format - Similar to OFX but optimized for Quickbooks.

Advantages

  • Great for business accounts
  • Includes business-specific fields
  • Works well with accounting software

File Size Limits

  • Maximum file size: 10 MB
  • Maximum transactions: 50,000 per upload
  • Date range: No limit

Unsupported Formats

We currently don't support:

  • PDF bank statements (coming soon!)
  • Excel files (.xlsx or .xls) - Please save as CSV first
  • Proprietary bank formats
