Getting your transaction data into Next Move Money is quick and easy. This guide will walk you through the entire process.
Step 1: Download from Your Bank
Most banks allow you to download your transaction history. Here's how:
- Log into your bank's online banking portal
- Navigate to your checking or credit card account
- Look for "Download" or "Export" options
- Choose one of these formats:
- CSV (most common)
- OFX (Quicken format)
- QFX (Quickbooks format)
- Go to the Uploads page in your dashboard
- Click the "Upload Transactions" button
- Select your downloaded file
- Click "Review Upload"
- Recurring subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify, etc.)
- Regular bills (utilities, insurance, etc.)
- Payment patterns (credit cards, loans, etc.)
- Spending categories
- They'll appear in your Spending page
- Insights will be available on your Dashboard
- You can set up Essentials based on detected patterns
Step 2: Select Your Date Range
We recommend starting with 3-6 months of transaction history. This gives our system enough data to identify patterns without being overwhelming.

Step 4: Review Detected Patterns
After uploading, Next Move Money will analyze your transactions and show you:
Review each detection and confirm or adjust as needed.
Common Issues
"File Format Not Recognized"
Make sure you're uploading a CSV, OFX, or QFX file. Excel files (.xlsx) need to be saved as CSV first.
"No Transactions Found"
Check that your file actually contains transaction data. Some banks export account summaries instead of transaction details.
"Dates Are Incorrect"
Your bank might use a different date format. Contact support and we'll help you resolve this.
